I’ve mentioned before how I’m a big fan of the After Dark Horrorfest. I followed along last year and your damn right I’m following along this year. Now as most of you have heard, a few films have already been announced for the line-up. THE DEATHS OF IAN STONE, directed by Dario Piana. NIGHTMARE MAN, directed by Rolfe Kanefsky. And MULBERRY STREET, directed by Jim Mickle. Well folks, the After Dark Horrorfest has just announced that Xavier Gens’ FRONTIERS and Matthew Leutwyler’s UNEARTHED are now on the list of films to die for in 2007!
A gore/torture-fest and a monster flick. Now personally, the only one that’s catching my attention thus far is THE DEATHS OF IAN STONE, but I’ll be looking forward to the whole batch regardless. FRONTIERS was directed and written by Xavier Gens and stars Karina Testa, Aurélien Wiik, Patrick Ligardes, David Saracino, Maud Forget, Samuel Le Bihan, and Estelle Lefébure. According to After Dark Horrorfest’s official site, the synopsis is: A gang of small time crooks take advantage of riots in the French inner cities to set up a heist. The robbery goes terribly wrong and the group splits up. With the police on their tails, some of the gang take refuge in a seedy hostile owned by degenerate rednecks. What they don’t know is that their hick hosts are neo-Nazi cannibals desperate for a new world order and will go to any lengths to turn their fascist fantasy into reality.
The crooks are subjected to mutilation and torture and everyone learns the true meaning of suffering.
The other film, UNEARTHED, was directed and written by Matthew Leutwyler and stars Emmanuelle Vaugier (below), Luke Goss, Beau Garrett, Charles Q. Murphy, Tonantzin Carmelo, Whitney Able, Tommy Dewey, M.C. Gainey, Russell Means, and Miranda Bailey. Oh yeah… you read that right. Charlie Murphy himself will be there. The synopsis reads: After a sinister crash on the highway of a small New Mexican town, nature begins dying following the disappearance of several people. The investigating Sheriff stumbles across a killer creature and realizes that the it is the reason for the disappearances and deaths. After surviving an attack, he and others try to fend off the creatures and save the town.
Now seeing how these two don’t really have that unique kicker to them, I’ll be keeping an eye out to see if something pops up. We’ll definately be posting any After Dark Horrorfest news as we hear it. Meanwhile, you can check out the official site here.
