I’ve heard some split reviews for REST STOP. So much so that I don’t know what to believe, meaning REST STOP is a movie I plan on checking out in the immediate future. Regardless of the reviews, as most know, REST STOP has earned a sequel called…. REST STOP 2. (at least that’s the working title right now, no word yet on a subtitle.)
REST STOP was about a young woman who ran away with her boyfriend to LA. When they take a break at a rest stop, the woman is abducted and the terrorizing commences. Doesn’t seem like much to me. Looks like an attempt to make a quick buck off THE HITCHER’s success. None the less, REST STOP 2 is in the works. Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that Shawn Papazian (who produced the original) will be taking the director’s seat in this one, while original writer-director John Shiban just sticks to the writing this time around. According to IMDB, both Jaimie Alexander and Mikey Post will be returning for the sequel, but we all know how reliable IMDB is.
According to BD, the premise for this one is: We’re told that The Driver, in this film, we first see him in “human” form as a nice, regular, rural sort of guy. But when he is brutally attacked and mutilated he becomes “The Driver” we met in the first film. So if that is indeed the case, I’m not sure how Jaimie Alexander will fit in, considering she’d played the heroine in the original. And does that make this one some sort of prequel? The film starts shooting October 22 through November 9 in LA with an unknown release date. We’ll keep you updated with news as we hear it.
Well at least I know Rest Stop had at least one good thing going for it…
