Jeff Buhler will be making his directorial debut on his second screenplay. He first wrote the script for Clive Barker’s MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN, now Buhler will be trying his hand at writing/directing INSANITARIUM.
The first five cast members have just been announced over at HollywoodReporter.com, they are: Olivia Munn (pictured below), Kiele Sanchez (pictured to the right and below), Jesse Metcalfe, Peter Stormare, and Kevin Sussman.
The premise to this indie horror reads: Metcalfe will play a man who pretends to be crazy in order to save his sister (Sanchez) from being involuntarily hospitalized. Once inside the institute, the siblings discover that a doctor (Stormare) is using his patients like lab rats, forcing them to take a drug that turns them into flesh-eating psychopaths.
I was sold as ‘flesh-eating psychopaths.’ There’s some big buzz generating for MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN, so if that meets expectations, this one should be one to look for. MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN is coming sometime in 2008 with INSANITARIUM just getting into production.
