New Scream movie gets a ‘Magic Eye’ style poster

Much like the character Willam in Kevin Smith’s movie Mallrats (watch it HERE), I have never been very good at seeing the hidden images in the “Magic Eye” style pictures, those “autostereograms” that “allow some people to see 3D images by focusing on 2D patterns”. I can see the hidden image in the Magic Eye-style poster that has been released to promote the new Scream movie, coming to theatres on January 14, 2022. This poster can be seen below, and shows a Ghostface mask behind a whole bunch of other Ghostface masks.

The new Scream is coming to us from Ready or Not (watch it HERE) directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. The screenplay was written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. Vanderbilt also produced the film for Project X Entertainment, alongside Paul Neinstein and William Sherak. Chad Villella, Gary Barber, Peter Oillataguerre, Ron Lynch, Cathy Konrad, Marianne Maddalena, and Kevin Williamson, writer of the original Scream, serve as executive producers. You can read our set visit interview with the directors at THIS LINK.

The new Scream has the following synopsis:

Twenty-five years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town’s deadly past.

Despite the title, this isn’t a remake, it is a follow-up to the four previous Scream movies. Franchise stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette back in the roles of Sidney Prescott, Gale Weathers, and Dewey Riley. Scream 4‘s Marley Shelton is also reprising her role of Judy Hicks. The returning stars are joined in the cast by Melissa Barrera, Mason Gooding, Dylan Minnette, Jack Quaid, Mikey Madison, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Kyle Gallner, Sonia Ammar, and the aforementioned Jenna Ortega. You can read our set visit interview with cast members HERE.

While the previous films were released by Dimension, this Scream is from Paramount and Spyglass.

Here’s that new Scream magic eye poster, which a lot of fans are finding very unpleasant to look at:
