After stealing the show in The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker will return for his very own series. We’ve got a little over two weeks left before Peacemaker debuts on HBO Max, and James Gunn took to Twitter to share a new look at Nhut Le as Judomaster. Check that out below!

The original Judomaster debuted in 1965 and was a U.S. Army sergeant in World War II who rescued the daughter of a Pacific island chief and was taught the art of Judo in return. He also had a kid sidekick named Tiger because kid sidekicks were all the rage back then. I’d imagine that Peacemaker will give us a much different Judomaster.

The Peacemaker series will find John Cena (F9) reprising his role as Peacemaker, and he’ll be joined by Danielle Brooks (Orange Is the New Black) as Adebayo, Freddie Stroma (Bridgerton) as Vigilante, Jennifer Holland (The Suicide Squad) as Harcourt, Steve Agee (The Suicide Squad) as Economos, Chukwudi Iwuji (John Wick: Chapter 2) as Murn, and Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day) as Auggie Smith. Cena has previously teased that he thinks that the Peacemaker series “actually turns up the volume on anything that you see in The Suicide Squad. I want people to enjoy The Suicide Squad and I really think they will. Once they get a feel for these characters they’re going to want more and that’s where Peacemaker picks up.” The eight-episode series will certainly be following in the R-rated footsteps of the feature film, as James Gunn has said that “it would be forty seconds long” if they edited it for broadcast TV.

Peacemaker will debut on HBO Max on January 13, 2022.
