Following a successful season 2 run on Hulu, The Great has been renewed for a Season 3 at the streamer. Starring Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult, the current second season (with also features Gillian Anderson) is already available to stream in its entirety on the platform.

The Great is one of Hulu’s top-performing original comedies and it will be returning for a third season with a 10-episode order, per “The Hollywood Reporter.” During season two, Catherine (Fanning) finally takes the Russian throne on her own and she finds the realities of “liberating” a country that doesn’t want to be, more difficult than coup-ing her husband. Over the run of the season, she battled her court, her team, and even her own mother to bring enlightenment to Russia. The series also stars Phoebe Fox, Adam Godley, Gwilym Lee, Charity Wakefield, Douglas Hodge, Sacha Dhawan, Bayo Gbadamosi, and Belinda Bromilow.

Series creator Tony McNamara (The Favourite) told The Hollywood Reporter’s TV’s Top 5 podcast back in November that he didn’t have an exact vision for how many seasons the historical-comedy series would run. McNamara said, “I know a whole bunch of events that are interesting that you can hang things on. At the moment, I try not to look too far ahead. At the end of season two, I didn’t quite know what season three was. I like not knowing what comes next. If you have a show with a great ensemble and a great bunch of characters, you can invent as you go for a while.”

The Great has proven to be a critical success as well, registering a 100% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes for its current second season and it is nominated for three Critics Choice Awards.
