The horror franchise Phantasm has been begging to get a video game adaptation ever since the iconic villain Tall Man (Angus Scrimm) spoke the line “You play a good game, boy” in the 1979 original (watch it HERE). Now franchise creator Don Coscarelli has decided the time is right for a Phantasm video game. Coscarelli took to his Twitter account to say, “The most common question I get about Phantasm is… when will there be a video game? What better time than NOW. To all my friends in the video game industry. DMs are open. To all the PHANS reply to this thread and tag who would do it justice.”

Phantasm has a mind-bending mythology. The Tall Man is an apocalyptic threat, and he has a whole lot of minions to do his bidding. This property could definitely serve as the basis for an awesome video game. It’s sad that Scrimm isn’t around to record any new lines for the Tall Man, though.

The original Phantasm has the following synopsis:

The residents of a small town have begun dying under strange circumstances, leading young Mike (Michael Baldwin) to investigate. After discovering that the Tall Man (Angus Scrimm), the town’s mortician, is killing and reanimating the dead as misshapen zombies, Mike seeks help from his older brother, Jody (Bill Thornbury), and local ice cream man Reggie (Reggie Bannister). Working together, they try to lure out and kill the Tall Man, all the while avoiding his minions and a deadly silver sphere.

Coscarelli directed three sequels to Phantasm, which were released in 1988, 1994, and 1998. In 2016, the series came to an end with Phantasm: Ravager, which David Hartman directed from a screenplay he and Coscarelli wrote together.
