Earlier this year, Sebastian Stan – who is best known for playing the character Bucky / The Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – played a very unhinged fellow in the horror thriller Fresh. Now Deadline is reporting that he has signed on to star in the psychological thriller A Different Man, which is coming to us from A24. Stan will be joined in the cast of A Different Man by Renate Reinsve, who received a lot of attention and accolades for her role in the Oscar-nominated Norwegian film The Worst Person in the World, and Adam Pearson, who previously played “The Deformed Man” in the A24 release Under the Skin.

A Different Man is being written and directed by Aaron Schimberg, who also directed the 2018 drama Chained for Life, which co-starred Pearson. The story Schimberg has crafted for this one centers on

Edward, an outcast who is seeking a new life and fresh start. After he undergoes facial reconstructive surgery, he becomes fixated on a man starring as him in a stage production based on his former life.

A24 is funding the film, which is being produced by Christine Vachon and Gabriel Mayers of Killer Films, Vanessa McDonnell of Grand Motel Films, and Jason Reif. Stan serves as executive producer.

I just watched Fresh (which is available on the Hulu streaming service) the other night and loved it, so I’m glad to hear that Stan is already heading back into psychological thriller territory. I highly recommend checking out Fresh while we wait to see how A Different Man is going to turn out – and so does JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray, who gave the film a 9/10 review you can read at THIS LINK.
