After stealing the show as Eumaeus in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, John Leguizamo is set to reunite with Matt Damon for the mysterious new project from the Daniels. Deadline reports that the actor is in talks to join the cast.
What We Know of the New Movie From The Daniels
The untitled project is set to be written and directed by the Daniels, the filmmaking duo consisting of Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. The filmmakers had been looking to cast the last critical role in their project, and when they saw Leguizamo’s performance in The Odyssey, they immediately made an offer.
Production is slated to kick off later this year, but unfortunately, plot details are being kept under wraps.
Previous reports have indicated that the film involves “global warming, time travel, as well as a possible superhero angle.” It’s also said that the story features two timelines: one set in the 1980s and the other in the present day. The protagonists of the story are teenagers, at least in the ’80s timeline.
Damon gave an interesting description of the project on The Dan Patrick Show, where he said the Daniels had pitched it to him as “The Breakfast Club meets Inception meets an anime film meets an episode of The John Oliver Show that didn’t get aired. So, if you liked Everything Everywhere All at Once and all the wildness and all the heart, I think you’ll really like this one.” I don’t know quite what to make of that.
In addition to Damon, the rest of the cast includes Sandra Oh, Sean Kaufman, Michael Gandolfini and Charles Melton
The Odyssey
