X-Men: Heartstopper’s Kit Connor eyed to lead the Children of the Atom as Cyclops for Marvel’s mutant universe reboot

“To me, my X-Men,” is what Kit Connor will say if and when he lands the pivotal role of Scott Summers, aka Cyclops, in Marvel‘s upcoming X-Men reboot. According to Deadline, the Heartstopper and Elden Ring actor is the studio’s top choice to play the heroic mutant in the upcoming revitalization of one of Marvel’s most iconic franchises.

Much like Samara Weaving, who’s expected to play the telepath, Emma Frost, in the MCU, Connor is the favorite to play Cyclops after director Jake Schreier and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige met with several candidates. Sources close to the studio say Connor is all but locked and loaded for the role, though things are still in flux. Insiders say Marvel has been going full-throttle with its X-Men auditions following the Fourth of July holiday. Does this mean we can expect a deluge of X-Men casting news in the coming months? I would think so!

Who is Cyclops?

Often positioned as the leader of the X-Men, Scott Summers, aka Cyclops, is a powerful mutant whose optic blasts are composed of pure, ruby-colored concussive kinetic energy. When he opens his trusty visor, he emits a beam that punches his target with tremendous force rather than carving a path with a super-heated laser beam. Cyclops often divides fans because of his Boy Scout-like moral compass and reluctance to compromise with his fellow mutants. He doesn’t enjoy butting heads with his fellow X-Men, but he usually finds himself between a rock and a hard place while trying to straddle the line between right and wrong.

Another Cyclops enters the fray

Two actors have played the character: James Marsden, who played him in three X-Men films in the 2000s, and Tye Sheridan, who played him in multiple X-Men films in the 2010s. Fans of Marsden’s version can see him reprising the role in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday event film this December.

What do you think of Kit Connor being all but confirmed to play Cyclops in Marvel’s X-Men reboot? I love his performance as Nick in Netflix’s adaptation of Heartstopper, and I’m looking forward to seeing him in Alex Garland’s Elden Ring in 2028. He’s an interesting choice for Cyclops, and I hope the deal goes through. Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
