TNT’s Snowpiercer TV adaptation gets exciting new trailer

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Director Bong Joon-ho's eviscerating class conscious critique of capitalism – PARASITE – may have won last year's Oscar, but that wasn't his first take on the subject, and, arguably, one of his previous films (and first English-language one) SNOWPIERCER is an even more eviscerating take on capitalism. Starring a gruff and very un-CAPTAIN AMAERICA-like Chris Evans, the highly political sci-fi film (based on a French comic about a train holding the last vestiges of humanity after a new Ice Age, where people in the cars at the front of the train live in the lap of luxury, while each car farthest from the front gets more-and-more destitute) was far from subtle, but still very effective.

Now, seven years later, TNT has created a TV series adaptation – starring Jennifer Connolly and Daveed Diggs – and has released a new trailer for it as well. And, you know what? It looks like SNOWPIERCER. While the film itself was very contained, it could potentially be interesting to flesh out the (sometimes nonsensical, though nonetheless still highly symbolic) world of the original film. Either way, here's the official synopsis for the show:

Set more than seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland, Snowpiercer centers on the remnants of humanity, who inhabit a gigantic, perpetually-moving train that circles the globe.

Meanwhile, the show will premiere on TNT May 17th.

So what do you guys think? Any fans of the original Bong Joon-ho film? If so, how does this look to be stacking up? Sound off below!
