A look at life, death, and love through the eyes of Gus Van Sant in the latest trailer for Restless

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Looking back at the career of director Gus Van Sant, the only real outright stinker the guy’s made is the mostly shot-for-shot remake of PSYCHO. Thing is, when you choose to remake PSYCHO, you’re kind of asking for it.

That said, the man’s been doing good-to-great work his last few outings, and his latest, RESTLESS, looks to perhaps continue the trend (though early reviews have been mixed, I’m going to give it the benefit of the doubt).

The film stars Mia Wasikowska, Henry “Son of Dennis” Hopper, Ryo Kase, and Schuyler Fisk. It opens in limited release on September 16th.

Synopsis: From Imagine Entertainment comes a powerful and emotional coming of age story, a remarkable film told with honesty and originality that will leave audiences moved. In the film, two outsiders, both shaped by the circumstances that have brought them together, forge a deep and lasting love. Directed by Gus Van Sant, one of the most astute observers of people living life on the edge, comes a take on friendship and young love as engaging and true as it is provocative and stirring. The screenplay is by Jason Lew.
