A new live-action Goosebumps TV show is in the works

Since 1992, author R.L. Stine has been helping turn children into horror fans with his kid-friendly Goosebumps series of novels, which has a couple hundred entries and ranks as the second-best-selling book series in history (after Harry Potter). Stine's books were the basis for a TV show that ran for a few years in the late '90s, and recently served as the inspiration for a couple theatrical features, 2015's GOOSEBUMPS and 2018's GOOSEBUMPS 2: HAUNTED HALLOWEEN, which were produced by Neal H. Moritz through his company Original Film.

Now Moritz is teaming with Scholastic Entertainment and Sony Pictures TV to take the Goosebumps property back to television. Deadline reports that a new live-action Goosebumps series is in the works.

Iole Lucchese, Scholastic Entertainment President and Chief Strategy Officer, had this to say about the project:

Goosebumps has been keeping kids and families on the edge of their seats for nearly 30 years and we’re very excited to partner with Sony Pictures Television and Neal H. Moritz to bring the enduring brand to life in a fresh new way for today’s generation. From the world-famous book series to a full-scale licensing program and even live-action movies starring Jack Black, Goosebumps remains wildly popular and we look forward to presenting new adventures to give fans even more Goosebumps."

Moritz added,

I loved making the Goosebumps movies and can’t wait to bring even more of R. L. Stine’s incredible stories to life through a high-end television series that speaks to both adults and kids alike."

This Goosebumps series will be executive produced by Moritz, Lucchese, Original's Head of Television Pavun Shetty, and Scholastic's SVP & General Manager Caitlin Friedman.

While we wait to see how the new series will turn out, some of the previous Goosebumps adaptations can be found on Amazon Prime Video: the first season of the original series, the 2015 film, and the sequel.
