A new teaser trailer for Amazon’s The Boys is here to rough you up

From the moment that Royal Deluxe's "I'm Gonna Do My Thing" kicks in, the new teaser trailer for THE BOYS signals to fans of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's ultra-violent comic book series that Amazon's upcoming adaptation is poised to be a stone groove, baby.

Early Thursday afternoon, series developer Eric Kripke shared our first real real look at the THE BOYS via his personal Twitter account, stating that, "Jan 24 is lucky. My wife’s bday, #DeanWinchester’s bday, Lucy Preston’s. Perfect day to introduce you to my new baby. #TheBoys. Coming summer ‘19 to @PrimeVideo. Based on brilliant #GarthEnnis comic. So fucking proud of it. Plz RT, family! #SPNFamily #Clockblockers @theboystv"

You can view Kripke's tweet for yourself below:

The trailer delivers much of what fans of the Dynamite-published series have been waiting for, a glimpse into the sick, sad world of a superpowered CIA squad whose job it is to closely monitor a superhero community who've let their stature and powers go to their heads over time. As the story opens up, we find Karl Urban's Billy Butcher leading "the Boys" against the "Seven," a Justice League-like group of super-powered individuals who after continuously being propped up on society's pedestal, have devolved into villains who lie, drink, and rape their way through the day. Together with his band of "Boys," Butcher will lead the charge against Vought, a conglomerate managed by Madlyn Stillwell (Elizabeth Shue), acting VP of Hero Management, who  despicably represents the "Seven."

Back in the day, THE BOYS ran from 2006 to 2012 for a total of 72 issues. Much like Seth Rogen's TV adaptation of Vertigo's PREACHER, THE BOYS is expected to take a few liberties with the classic source material to tell a new story with the series' chaotic cast of characters. Oh, but don't worry, THE BOYS pure bloods, Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Kripke, who all contributed to the development of the project, have promised that plenty of elements from Ennis and Robertson's run will remain intact.

Joining Urban for THE BOYS are Jack Quaid as Hughie, Laz Alonso as Mother’s Milk, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, Jennifer Esposito as CIA agent Susan L. Rayner, and Karen Fukuhara as the Female. Also set to star alonside Elisabeth Shue are Erin Moriarty, Antony Starr, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, and Nathan Mitchell.

THE BOYS are expected to bash in some superhero skulls on Amazon Prime sometime in 2019.
