A24 unveils trailer and poster for Sundance hit The Witch

Last Updated on July 22, 2021

Not only did writer/director Robert Eggers' debut film THE WITCH stir up a lot of hype and excitement with its Sundance premiere earlier this year, it also landed a U.S. distribution deal with A24 Films.

Building up to their release of the film in 2016, A24 has now released a poster and trailer for THE WITCH, giving those of us who weren't able to attend Sundance a glimpse of the horrors witnessed by audiences there.

Starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Ineson, Kate Dickie, Harvey Scrimshaw, Ellie Grainger, and Lucas Dawson, THE WITCH has the following synopsis:

New England, 1630: William and Katherine lead a devout Christian life, homesteading on the edge of an impassible wilderness, with five children.  When their newborn son mysteriously vanishes and their crops fail, the family begins to turn on one another.

It does look to me like Eggers has made an impressive, potentially disturbing film that's definitely worth paying attention to. Check out the trailer below and see what you think:
