How do you guys feel about the classic tale of DR. JEKYLL & MR. HYDE? You dig it right? How can any self-respecting genre fan not be cool with a story that involves a dude with two extreme split personalities. So I’m just going to go ahead and assume you’re a big fan.
So with that being said, you should be stoked to hear the news coming at us from Deadline this morning! It seems ABC and scribe Sheldon Turner are teaming for a modern day interpretation of the classic tale called “Hyde”, which marks the first sale for Sheldon and Jennifer Klein’s recently launched company Vendetta, which has a first-look deal at ABC Studios.
“Hyde” will feature Grant Hyde, a thirtysomething ER doctor with a degenerative eye condition who is conflict-averse and hesitant to be captain of his own destiny. After attempting an experimental treatment to improve his eyesight, he begins to experience a strange side effect — when he goes to sleep, his id manifests itself as Hyde, a fearless, gregarious personality who takes control where Grant cannot.
Sounds about right. Turner and Klein will executive produce the show, described as an odd buddy show where the buddies happen to be the same person. Hopefully this thing turns out to be a lot more twisted than it’s making itself out to be.
No word on when we might be seeing “Hyde” but my bet is sooner rather than later. As soon as we hear more regarding the project you can bet we’ll be right here passing any news right along to all of you.
