Adam Sandler admits his movies are nothing more than paid vacations

Well, Adam Sandler has come clean about something many of us have suspected for a long time: most of his films are essentially paid vacations. Jimmy Kimmel asked Sandler on his show last night if he makes movies somewhere where he can go on vacation. Sandler's response:

“Yes. I have done that since 50 FIRST DATES. It was written in another place, and I said, ‘Imagine if we did it in Hawaii, how great that movie would be.’ And they where like, ‘Yeah, that’s a very artistic idea.’ And I’ve been doing that ever since.”

I will give the guy credit for knowing how to work the system, and I'm sure the studios don't really care too much considering almost all of his comedies have turned a profit. But being so blunt about his recent "work" is sure to piss off more than a few people, especially those of us who use to really like the actor. I loved him on SNL, listened to his comedy albums more times than I'd like to admit when I was in middle school, and enjoyed his older movies.

However I'm less mad, and more sad and disappointed. Maybe if Adam Sandler spent more time trying to make a good movie instead of figuring out where he wants to go on vacation, his films wouldn't always end up being nominated for Razzies, and on "Worst Movies of the Year" lists.

Adam Sandler's vacation in Africa BLENDED is in theaters today.
