Isn’t it amazing what a guest spot on Succession can do? Adrien Brody, who’s had a quiet few years outside of reliably solid roles in Wes Anderson movies, has just landed his biggest-budget movie role in years, with Deadline reporting he’s signing on to star with Chris Evans and Ana de Armas in Apple Original Films and Skydance’s Ghosted. Described as a “high-concept romantic action-adventure film,” Ghosted is set to be one of Apple’s biggest movies ever, with Eddie the Eagle and Rocket Man director Dexter Fletcher directing.

Indeed, Brody seems to be amid a significant resurgence. In addition to Ghosted, Brody’s also recently starred on Epix’s Chapelwaite, released the passion project Clean (which he co-wrote, stars in and wrote the music for) and will also be starring in HBO’s much-anticipated Lakers series, Winning Time, as famous coach Pat Riley. Ghosted will mark Brody’s second movie in 18 months with de Armas, having co-starred in the delayed Marilyn Monroe biopic, Blonde, for Netflix. Of course, he’s also got a role in Wes Anderson’s latest movie, Asteroid City, as well as having a role in Anderson’s recent film, The French Dispatch.

Ghosted is written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who wrote Deadpool and Zombieland. While Apple’s lineup of original films has been low-key up to now, this is going to change in a big way this year, with them set to release Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, Antoine Fuqua’s Emancipation with Will Smith, Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle with Henry Cavill, and the Ridley Scott epic Napoleon, starring Joaquin Phoenix. Their lineup of movies is going to be absolutely killer for the next few years, so the great CODA was only a taste of things to come.
