Aisha Hinds takes on Godzilla: King of Monsters

Is Legendary Entertainment's follow-up to their 2014 GODZILLA film called GODZILLA: KING OF MONSTERS or GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS? No one can seem to agree – when I saw the title announcement in December, it was GODZILLA: KING OF MONSTERS, but since then many reports have been dropping the THE in there. Personally, I'd rather the THE be left out. GODZILLA: KING OF MONSTERS is a very obvious nod to the title the original 1954 GODZILLA movie was given when it was released in the United States, GODZILLA, KING OF THE MONSTERS! So if the new movie is called GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS, it's not just a very obvious nod, it's the exact same title. Minus an exclamation point and swapping in a colon for the comma.

Regardless of the title, I'm looking forward to seeing what director Mike Dougherty (TRICK 'R TREAT, KRAMPUS) is going to be doing with Godzilla. Plot details are being kept secret, but Dougherty is assembling an interesting cast to pit against the iconic monster.

Aisha Hinds is the latest actor to sign on for the film, joining a cast that includes Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, Kyle Chandler, and O’Shea Jackson Jr., with only Ken Watanabe expected to return from GODZILLA '14.

You may know Hinds from her roles in the ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 remake, True Blood, Dollhouse, Under the Dome, and/or STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS. That's just a few of her 64 acting credits.

Scripted by Dougherty and his KRAMPUS co-writer Zach Shields, GODZILLA: KING OF MONSTERS / GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS is scheduled to be released on March 22, 2019.

These Godzilla movies are set in the same cinematic universe as KONG: SKULL ISLAND, and this is all building toward a GODZILLA VS. KONG film that's set to come out in 2020.
