Amazon & Stephen King’s The Dark Tower adds Game of Thrones star

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

It looks like Amazon's adaptation of Stephen King's THE DARK TOWER is really moving ahead with LEATHERFACE actor Sam Strike in the lead role of The Gunslinger himself Roland Deschain. Jasper Pääkkönen (Vikings, BlacKkKlansman) may be playing The Man in Black and today we have word that Gam,e of Thrones star Jerome Flynn has joined the cast as well.

Jerome confirmed his role recently saying:

I’ve always said I’d like to play a cowboy – and now one has come along. I’m excited for that.

While Flynn is best known for this role on HBO's hit adaptation of George RR Martin's Game of Thrones, the man can also be seen in projects such as Ripper Street, the horrific "Shut Up and Dance" episode of Black Mirror, and an upcoming role in JOHN WICK CHAPTER 3 – PARABELLUM

THE DARK TOWER is evidently nearing a formal pilot order at the streaming platform with Glen Mazzara (THE WALKING DEAD, DAMIEN) executive producing and acting as the showrunner. Sources say it will take place many years before the events depicted in the feature and will

focus on Roland Deschain’s (Strike) origin story – how he first became a gunslinger and got his guns, his first conflict with the man in black, his first love and his first mission as a gunslinger.

This new take on King's multi-novel series which has been in development at Amazon for almost a year and is said to be independent of the film and is meant to be a more faithful retelling of the book. We'll let you know when we hear more! What do you think of the powers that be behind the scenes casting Game of Thrones star Jerome Flynn? Make sure to hit us up and let us know below!
