Back in November it was announced that ANGELS AND DEMONS, the prequel to THE DA VINCI CODE, was shelved thanks to the writer’s strike.

Well that strike has long been over, which means production on ANGELS AND DEMONS has started up again. Well Variety has a nice update for us, with a definate cast member and a potential one.

It’s been announced that Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer (below) will be starring in the prequel. Sounds good. Variety is also reporting that one Ewan McGregor is eyeing a role as well. Now McGregor (above) is a pretty badass actor, so this is some compelling news.

ANGELS AND DEMONS already has the great Tom Hanks starring with Ron Howard directing. Akiva Goldsman penned the script from the novel of the same name by Dan Brown.

ANGELS AND DEMONS centers on religious art scholar Robert Langdon (Hanks), who once again finds himself entangled with powerful forces with ancient roots: the Illuminati — the most powerful underground organization in history — and the Catholic Church.

Zurer is set to play an Italian scientist who joins Langdon. McGregor is eyeing the part of a powerful Vatican insider who also helps Langdon.

So it looks like ANGELS AND DEMONS is gearing up to start production soon. We’ll keep you updated.
