Just last week we found out that, surprise surprise, Universal would be moving forward with a sequel to PITCH PERFECT 2 with the that film's screenwriter, Kay Cannon, being sought to draft the third movie. The first film took in $115 million while the sequel has shattered that with a worldwide box office of just over $260 million, which should rise even more as the film has only been in theaters for a month. Money talks people.
PITCH PERFECT 3 will see the return of Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson for a July 21, 2017 release. I've yet to see either of the PITCH PERFECT films, but the franchise obviously has a great deal of fans who are likely celebrating with a carefully choreographed dance routine at this very moment.
Elizabeth Banks, who made her feature directorial debut with PITCH PERFECT 2, will be producing the film but there's no word as to whether she will return to the director's chair. She's currently in talks to direct Universal's adaption of the YA novel "Red Queen," so it's possible she may be too busy to return. Again, PITCH PERFECT 3 will arrive on July 21, 2017.
