This summer looks like it’s going to be the Summer of Krueger when it comes to news updates. We already keep you updated on every piece of HALLOWEEN 2 and NEW MOON news, imagine what’s going to happen with A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET? Jackie Earle Haley is going to eat a ham sandwich and we’re going to be here to tell you about it!

In all seriousness though we’re planning on keeping you in the know with every piece of ELM STREET news that heads our way, which of course brings me to today’s update! The guys over at ShockTillYouDrop got word on the newest piece of casting for ELM STREET. It seems Thomas Dekker is close to being the next name to inevitably be slashed by Freddy Krueger. You’ve seen Dekker (above) in stuff like VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED, FROM WITHIN, and TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES. Or maybe you haven’t. Either way he’s set to star in A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET!

Dekker is in talks to join stars Jackie Earle Haley and Kyle Gallner. He’ll be playing Jesse, the swim team jock. NIGHTMARE is coming from resident remake gurus Platinum Dunes with Samuel Bayer directing. Filming starts in just a month over in Chicago with an April 16, 2010 start date set. Keep it here for any and all NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET updates as we hear them!
