Anthony Mackie to star as Takeshi Kovacs for Altered Carbon Season 2

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Netflix has announced that Laeta Kalogridis's dystopian science-fiction cyberpunk noir TV series, ALTERED CARBON, is getting a second season on the popular streaming network. Along with the news of a follow-up season comes the casting of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR actor Anthony Mackie as the show's title character, Takeshi Kovacs. In the world of Altered Carbon, the journey of Takeshi Kovacs spans hundreds of years, many different bodies, and planets.  This allows the story to explore themes of identity, mortality, and the human soul.  In this new season, Anthony Mackie will be the new embodiment of Kovacs, as the series continues to expand on these deeper themes and ideas across longer periods of times and different worlds throughout the universe. The role of Takeshi Kovacs was originally played by SUICIDE SQUAD alum Joel Kinnaman throughout the first season of the show.

When the series based on the classic science fiction novels by Richard K. Morgan returns, Kalogridis will once again serve as co-showrunner and executive producer. Also co-producing the crime noir for the upcoming season is Alison Schapker, who will also co-produce. Joining both Kalogridis and Schapker in an executive producing role is James Middleton (TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES).

What do you think of the idea of Mackie taking over the role of Takeshi Kovacs for Season 2 of ALTERED CARBON? Did you check out the first season? Did you enjoy it? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
