Rumor: Apartment 7A may be a prequel to Rosemary’s Baby

A while back, a psychological thriller called Apartment 7A – which Relic (watch it HERE) director Natalie Erika James helmed for Paramount Players and A Quiet Place collaborators Platinum Dunes and John Krasinski – wrapped filming. Now, as the film makes its way through post-production, our friends over at Bloody Disgusting have heard something very interesting. They “have it on good authority that Apartment 7A is actually a top-secret Rosemary’s Baby prequel that’s about the woman who died outside the apartment when Rosemary moved in”!

This would make sense, as Apartment 7A is the apartment the Castavets lived in in Rosemary’s Baby. According to IMDb, Kevin McNally (the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise) is playing Rosemary’s Baby character Roman Castavet in the film, with Amy Leeson (Rules of the Game) appearing as Rosemary Woodhouse and Scott Hume (The Crown) as her husband Guy. Presumably this all means Apartment 7A star Julia Garner (Ozark) is playing Terry Gionoffrio, a character Rosemary Woodhouse briefly interacts with in Rosemary’s Baby. A character who soon turns up dead. And could Dianne Wiest (The Lost Boys) be playing Minnie Castevet, the role that earned Ruth Gordon an Oscar?

What we know for sure is that Apartment 7A started out with an original screenplay written by Skylar James. Natalie Erika James and Christian White, who wrote the script for her feature debut Relic with her, performed their own rewrite of the script. Skylar James was a writer on the comedic Netflix series The Green Beret’s Guide to the Apocalypse, which was executive produced by Matt Damon and has never been released despite wrapping production in 2018.

Krasinski is producing Apartment 7A with Allyson Seeger through their company Sunday Night Productions, while Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller are producing through Platinum Dunes. Alexa Ginsburg is overseeing the project for Sunday Night Productions, while Alex Ginno is doing the same for Platinum Dunes.
