Henry Cavill and Dua Lipa cut a rug in a first-look image for Argylle

Argylle, Dua Lipa, Henry Cavill, Matthew Vaughn

Henry Cavill is out here looking like a young Charlie Sheen for a first-look image at Apple TV+‘s Argylle. I mean, look at that fuzzy mop. Also, is that a crushed velvet suit? Matthew Vaughn might want to call the fashion police because Cavill looks arresting in this new photo.

Setting her phasers to stun for the image is Dua Lipa, who stars in Argylle alongside John Cena, Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, and Samuel L. Jackson. Argylle hails from Matthew Vaughn through his MARV production studio. In addition to making her acting debut in the film, Dua Lipa will also provide music for the title track and score.

Based on a novel of the same name by Ellie Conway, Argylle revolves around an amnesiac spy who has been tricked into believing he’s a best-selling novelist.

Here’s the official synopsis for Conway’s novel via Penguin Publishing:

A luxury train speeding towards Moscow and a date with destiny.

A CIA plane downed in the jungles of the Golden Triangle.

A Nazi hoard entombed in the remote mountains of South-West Poland.

A missing treasure, the eighth wonder of the world, lost for seven decades.

One Russian magnate’s dream of restoring a nation to greatness has set in motion a chain of events that will take the world to the brink of chaos. Only Frances Coffey, the CIA’s most legendary spymaster, can prevent it. But to do so, she needs someone special. Enter Argylle, a troubled agent with a tarnished past who may just have the skills to take on one of the most powerful men in the world. If only he can save himself first…

Vaughn, who introduced spy thriller fans to his Kingsman film franchise, will direct from a script by Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman). Adam Bohling and David Reid, who’ve already collaborated with Vaughn on several film projects, will produce alongside Fuchs. Additionally, Carlos Peres, Claudia Vaughn, and Adam Fishbach will serve as executive producers.

“When I read this early draft manuscript I felt it was the most incredible and original spy franchise since Ian Fleming’s books of the 50s. This is going to reinvent the spy genre,” Matthew Vaughn said in a bold statement last year.

What do you think is up with Cavill’s quaff? Did his stylist have a photo of Sheen on hand or was this unintentional? Inquiring minds want to know, dammit! We’ll be sure to let you know if we get any answers to these questions. In the meantime, Argylle is looking very stylish so far, and we can’t wait to see more.
