Astro Boy’s a tease

There’s something inherently unappealing about the upcoming ASTRO BOY, an animated film from the apparently cash-strapped Imagi Animation Studios. I think it may have something to do with Imagi’s first animated feature TMNT totally sucking balls. Still, the film based on the popular anime character boasts an all-star voice cast that includes Nicholas Cage, Kristen Bell, Eugene Levy, Bill Nighy, Nathan Lane, Donald Sutherland, and Freddie Highmore as the titular character, so how bad can it be? ASTRO BOY revolves around a young robot with super powers created by a genius scientist as a replacement for the son he has lost. Unable to live up to his “father’s” expectations, our poor little Astro Boy embarks on a journey of acceptance, betrayal and ultimate reconciliation. I don’t know too many people who are excited for this film, or who are fans of the iconic character, but even all you haters have to admit, this newly released teaser poster could have been a lot worse.
