Little Shop of Horrors

After completing work on A BUCKET OF BLOOD, director Roger Corman learned that the sets would be left standing for several day. Not one to let anything go to waste, Corman began developing the film which would later become LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS and wound up shooting it in record time, with principal photography lasting just two days and one night. Not much was expected from the little film but audiences wound up loving it and its popularity only grew in the decades which followed.

That popularity led to the production of a horror comedy rock musical in 1982 as well as a film-adaptation of that musical in 1986. Deadline reports that Audrey II, the man-eating plant at the center of the story, will live again in a brand-new musical feature-film which will be directed by Greg Berlanti. Although he's probably best known for heading up The CW's "Arrow-verse" which consists of Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl, Berlanti isn't a directing novice; he took the helm of 2010's LIFE AS WE KNOW IT as well as directing the pilot episode of Sigourney Weaver's Political Animals mini-series. The upcoming musical reboot will present a "fresh version" of the 1986 film which starred Rick Moranis as a clumsy young man who raises a plant, discovers it is carnivorous, and has to kill in order to keep it fed.
