Josie Andrews has spent the last several years building up her directorial career with award-winning short films, an award-winning documentary called Waiting in the Wings, and some vertical dramas. (Which often have eye-popping titles like Infertile Alphas’ Pregnant Mate and Knocked Up by the Silver Fox Alpha.) Now, Deadline reports that she will be making her narrative feature debut with a comedic slasher called Bach Sh*t Crazy – and, in addition to having a cool title in place, she has also assembled an interesting cast.
Cast and Synopsis
Here’s the cast list: Gillian Bolt (Landman), Sydney Elizebeth Agudong (Lilo & Stitch), Thomas Lennon (Reno 911!), Sydney Cole Alexander (Severance), Ashleigh Murray (The Other Black Girl), Lindsey Normington (Anora), Evan Rubin (A House of Dynamite), and Peloton’s Cody Rigsby.
Andrews developed the idea for Bach Sh*t Crazy with Catie Bolt and Gillian Bolt, “inspired by the trio’s ever-rotating roles in their current real-life bridesquad era.” The story follows a tight-knit group of college friends reuniting for yet another bachelorette weekend — this time at a lavish ski chalet owned by the bride’s ultra-wealthy fiancé (Lennon). Maid of honor Maya (Agudong) has grown distant from best friend Evie (Bolt), whose rekindled bond with estranged college mean girl Tess (Alexander) threatens to derail the trip. A competitive scavenger hunt heightens tensions before taking a violent turn, stranding the women on a snowy mountain with a killer on the loose.
Production
Bach Sh*t Crazy is currently filming at Lake Tahoe in California.
The project is supported through fiscal sponsorship by the Alliance of Women Directors, where Andrews was an inaugural RDF Fellow. Catie Bolt and Gillian Bolt are producing for Bolt Productions. Andrews is producing under her Dumm Blonde banner.
Bach Sh*t Crazy had my attention as soon as I saw the title, caught my interest with Thomas Lennon’s name on the cast list, and fully sold me with the synopsis and the “comedic slasher” description. I’m looking forward to seeing how this one is going to turn out.
