Seven years ago, Gille Klabin made his feature directorial debut with a trippy movie called The Wave, and he didn’t like how the distributor handled it. Too many people he crossed paths with over the years have told him they never heard of his movie. So, for his second feature, the horror comedy Weekend at the End of the World, he’s taking the self-distribution route and sending the movie out into the world on April 20th. (You can read about Klabin’s decision at THIS LINK.) With that date just a few weeks away, a full trailer has dropped online and can be seen in the embed above.

Cast and Synopsis

Made on a budget of $296,000 with a twelve-day shooting schedule, Weekend at the End of the World stars Troian Bellisario (Pretty Little Liars), Thomas Lennon (Reno 911!), Cameron Fife (Not Quite College), Clay Elliott (Go for Broke), Sujata Day (Insecure), Jimmy Guidish (Killing Diaz), Jesse O’Neill (Hard Justice), Adam Ray (The Heat), and Tiffany Smith (In Flight).

The story follows best friends Karl (Elliott) and Miles (Fife), who find themselves in a secluded cabin in the woods with what they think is an opportunity to get rich, with the only thing standing in their way being the end of the world. Klabin, Elliott, and Spencer McCurnin wrote the script.

The official Instagram account, which features some interesting making-of videos, reveals that Bellisario plays a character called Meemaw, and Lennon’s character name is Hank. In the Bio section of the account, you can find a link to join a mailing list and receive updates on the self-distribution endeavor.

Weekend at the End of the World is coming our way from Hero Moves and June Street Productions.

I wasn’t really into The Wave, but did feel that Klabin was a talented director. This new movie looks like something I could get more entertainment out of, so I look forward to checking it out.
