Barbershop 3 is still on the way now with Malcolm Lee directing

barbershop 3

It was almost a year ago when we last heard about another BARBERSHOP sequel. MGM’s franchise is indeed getting ready to open again with Ice Cube as the only mentioned returning cast member (and producer) last year, but now Cedric the Entertainer is said to be close to a deal to return as well. Deadline also reported that BARBERSHOP 3 has found itself a director in Malcolm Lee (THE BEST MAN).

The original 2002 movie, which was actually pretty great, was directed by Tim Story with Cube starring as a man who inherited a South Side Chicago barbershop from his father. The bulk of the movie has him spending time working in the shop, interacting with co-workers and the patrons. The 2004 sequel hit a lot of great notes as well, while the spinoff BEAUTY SHOP failed at mostly everything.

I didn't think we needed another BARBERSHOP sequel, but like most sequels the public wasn't shouting for, it's happening regardless. What do you think about another BARBERSHOP?
