If you’re a fan of this genre then you should know who Clive Barker is. If you’re still a fan of this genre then you probably also know Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. Well put those three guys together and what do you get? A television series about a haunted hotel!
I kid you not folks. The Hollywood Reporter’s Risky Biz Blog just dropped word that Dunstan and Melton just sold their pilot script for HOTEL to Warner Bros. Television with a bunch of networks looking to score it. Not much is known about HOTEL other than the fact that it follows a series of ghoulish incidents at a haunted hotel. Barker is on board to produce along with Joe Daley and McG’s Wonderland Sound and Vision.
The one thing that can actually make me cringe in a horror flick are ghosts.. especially little kid ghosts. So the idea of a haunted hotel television series from a couple genre mainstays like Dunstan and Melton along with a genre legend like Barker has me tickled pink! Just a note real quick so people don’t get confused: That picture above comes from media for Disney’s ‘Tower of Terror’ ride, which spawned a 1997 made-for-TV movie starring Steve Guttenberg and Kirsten Dunst (below). It has nothing to do with CLIVE BARKER’S HOTEL.
Hopefully this thing hits the fast track so we can get a look at it as soon as possible! We’ll be keeping a close eye on HOTEL so keep it here for updates as we hear them.
