If you were looking forward to Ben Affleck and Ana De Armas mixing it up on the big screen, you may need to pump the brakes on that. Disney has pulled their film, Deep Water, off of the release schedule, per “Deadline.” The 20th Century Studios release was originally slated to hit screens on January 14, 2022.

No reason was given for the decision. The erotic thriller, directed by Adrian Lyne, was the first film the director was set to release in almost two decades. In the film, Affleck, and Armas star as Vic and Melinda Van Allen, a married couple whose mind games with each other take a twisted turn when people around them start turning up dead. The couple avoids divorce by allowing each other to take different lovers but things get messy as their facade of the perfect American suburban life begins to unravel. In other words, this is a movie right up Adrian Lyne’s lane.

Fun fact: Affleck and Armas were dating during the making of the movie when it began filming in November of 2019. They are no longer together as Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are now together reliving their Gigli days. Did J to the LO have something to do with the film hitting the skids? We’ll look into that if we hear more. As of now, Deep Water has not been rescheduled by 20th Century Studios.
