A few months back, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon announced that they would be reviving the series Project Greenlight on the network it was originally born on; HBO. Project Greenlight was a contest to help a passionate artist direct a film, who otherwise might have never had the chance to do so. At that time both writers and directors could submit material, but for this new season, they're looking for just a director. Bat-fleck and Damon took some time to tell you how the process works in the video below.
Take a look:
I watched the first two seasons of Project Greenlight back when they initially aired on HBO, and was fascinated by the entire process. Nowadays there's a reality show for everything under the sun, but back when the market wasn't over-saturated, it was unique to have one about the film-making process. Furthermore, I respect the fact that Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are going out of their way to make this happen. It's obviously a labor of love for these guys. At the end of this contest we'll have a film we probably wouldn't have otherwise, and that's a win in my book.
If you're planning to enter the contest, you can submit a short film of up to 3 minutes long on July 24 through August 8, 2014.
