Ben Stiller-produced kidnapping thriller Sunflower gets a director

Someone has finally picked SUNFLOWER.

After years of false starts, the suspense thriller written by Misha Green will get moving under the direction of Adam Blaiklock, previously directed the 2010 film CAUGHT INSIDE.

Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld will produce through their Red Hour productions for 20th Century Fox. It may seem like an unusual project for Stiller, but remember, be also produced THE RUINS.

The highly-regarded screenplay (it made the 2008 Black List) follows two young women who are held hostage in a prison-like farmhouse by a deranged college professor. As they struggle to survive, they’re forced to face the possibility of fighting each other for their lives.

We last heard about this project in 2010, when it was positioned as a potential Wes Craven effort. William Friedkin too was once attached. No word on when production commences.
