Blair Witch Fest: Dorian is accepting stories for an interactive game

The app Dorian is described as a storytelling platform that “allows writers to turn fiction into interactive visual games”, and now they’re teaming up with Lionsgate to create user-generated, interactive games based on Lionsgate properties. The first IP to get the Dorian game treatment is Blair Witch, and from October 15th through the 31st creators in the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, and the Philippines will be able to submit their Blair Witch fan fiction for a chance to get their version of a story called Blair Witch Fest turned into a game.

The set-up all submissions must work from is that a group of

influencers head to Black Hills Forest for a Blair Witch–themed music festival. The part that’s up for interpretation: Will the characters survive the night in the forest or end up livestreaming their own deaths?

The creator of the winning submission will get to meet with a senior motion picture executive at Lionsgate and will also be able to monetize their Blair Witch game through Dorian’s virtual currency. Lionsgate’s Jenefer Brown says this project allows content creators to “explore new pathways to a narrative experience within the universe of Blair Witch“.

The Hollywood Reporter says Dorian is a

storytelling service designed to cater to creators without coding backgrounds. Creators receive analytics on how users are engaging with their stories, and they also get a 50 percent cut of the revenue made from their games.

Dorian’s co-founder and CEO Julia Palatovska explains,

You can release an episode that is fast to produce, and then you can start seeing revenue coming in on the first day, as opposed to more traditional fiction writing.”

If you have an idea for Blair Witch Fest that you would like to see turned into a game, you’ll need to download the Dorian app and register to write for the contest. The app can be found on the App Store for iPhone and Google Play.
