Borderlands: Jack Black tapped to play Claptrap!

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Oh, so this is kinda cool! Lionsgate has just confirmed that none other than actor-comedian Jack Black will be voicing the sassy robot Claptrap – "a persistently sarcastic robot that isn’t all that invested in the survival of his teammates" –  in Eli Roth's upcoming feature film adaptation of the sci-fi action-comedy game Borderlands! He'll be joining the previously cast Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, and Jamie Lee Curtis as Lilith, Roland, and Tannis, respectively!

Here's what Roth had to say about the casting, having worked with Black in on the film The House with a Clock in Its Walls, which opened #1 at the box office on its way to taking in over $130 million worldwide:

I am so excited to reunite with Jack, this time in the recording booth. Claptrap is the funniest character in the game, and Jack is perfect to bring him to the big screen.

Meanwhile, no official release date as of yet, but we'll keep you posted!

So what do you guys think? Fans of the game? If so, how do you feel about Black's casting? Either way, sound off below!
