Boy Meets California: Ben Savage is running for Congress

Former Boy Meets World star Ben Savage is ready to meet Congress, marking his run in California against Andrew Schiff.

Ben Savage congress

Mr. Feeny must have been doing something right at John Adams High, as former Boy Meets World star Ben Savage has announced he is running for Congress in California. Now if he can get Rider Strong as his running mate…

Ben Savage posted on his Instagram this week with the caption, “I’m running for Congress because it’s time to restore faith in government by offering reasonable, innovative and compassionate solutions to our country’s most pressing issues…And it’s time for new and passionate leaders who can help move our country forward. Leaders who want to see the government operating at maximum capacity, unhindered by political divisions and special interests.” He’s even dressed up, which beats a Phillies jersey, at least…Savage ended his post with a link to his official campaign website. There isn’t much merch–only a yard sign–but a blow-up globe would be a nice touch.

Ben Savage’s run for Congress will see him vying for a spot in District 30 of California, which partly covers Hollywood. Meanwhile, former Boy Meets World co-stars Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong, and Will Frielde currently host the watch-along podcast “Pod Meets World.” On Savage’s absence, Fishel said, “Ben Savage is doing his own thing. He’s doing Lifetime movies. He’s busy. We would love for him to have been a part of the show. We asked him to be a part of the show. We talked about it with Ben and Ben was like, ‘I’m not sure it’s really my thing.’ He said, ‘It just really is not my thing,’ and we have respected that. It’s not his thing. That is why Ben is not here.” Well, Savage has clearly moved on from Lifetime fare, as he’s looking to make changes in the district that launched his fame.

Even without Ben Savage, “Pod Meets World” has been a go-to podcast for fans. It has also provided some juicy behind-the-scenes revelations, like Strong criticizing the producers for how they handled sex and Trina McGee (Angela) questioning why she was left out of the series finale.
