Bryan Cranston to bang the gavel as the lead of Your Honor limited series

Showtime is taking BREAKING BAD and MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE alum Bryan Cranston to court, though it's not due to the ISLE OF DOGS actor being in any legal trouble, certainly not. In fact, it's because Cranston has been cast as the lead for YOUR HONOR, a 10-episode legal thriller. Based on the acclaimed Israeli drama series KVODO, the limited series will find Cranston starring as a respected judge whose son becomes involved in a hit-and-run that leads to a high-stakes game of lies, deceit and impossible choices.

KVODO, created by Ron Ninio and Shlomo Mashiach, and produced by Ram Landes, is hailed as a dark, gripping and morally complex drama that centers on Judge Micha Alkoby, a law-abider with a series of golden opportunities on the horizon. However, after his teenage son, Shay, is involved in a grisly hit and run, Alkoby must face the reality that his son is now the target of a relentless crime family.

Creating YOUR HONOR for Showtime are CRIMINAL JUSTICE and THE NIGHT OF producer Peter Moffat, as well as THE GOOD WIFE's Robert and Michelle King. Additionally, Moffat will also serve as showrunner, executive producer, and a writer on the series. Meanwhile, CBS TV Studios will produce in association with Robert and Michelle King’s King Size Productions.

“Peter, Michelle and Robert have crafted an original thriller with gut-wrenching suspense, raw emotion and moral complexity,” said Gary Levine, President of Entertainment, Showtime Networks, who unveiled the show at TCA. “And we are simply ecstatic that Bryan Cranston, one of the planet’s finest actors, shares our enthusiasm and has agreed to play the lead. I can’t wait to shoot Your Honor and show it to the world!”

Up next for Cranston is a voice-acting role in Thea Sharrock's (ME BEFORE YOU, THE HOLLOW CROWN) upcoming animated feature, THE ONE AND ONLY IVAN. In the film, a gorilla named Ivan tries to piece together his past with the help of an elephant named Stella as they hatch a plan to escape from captivity. Sam Rockwell, Angelina Jolie, Helen Mirren, Danny DeVito, and Ariana Greenblatt also star.
