Bryan Fuller is no longer the showrunner for Apple’s Amazing Stories reboot

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Welp, it would seem that Bryan Fuller is no longer the showrunner of Apple's upcoming reboot of AMAZING STORIES. According to a source close to Fuller, the parting was copacetic, though this now marks the third project that the HANNIBAL and AMERICAN GODS creative has abandoned in the past few years.

For those of you keeping score at home, Fuller and Michael Green recently exited the Starz series adaptation of Neil Gaiman's AMERICAN GODS, citing budgetary disputes and a difference of creative opinion. Which is a damn shame, because in my personal opinion, it's Fuller's best work to date. Before that, Fuller was named showrunner of the CBS All Access series STAR TREK: DISCOVERY, but then left the show in October of 2016. And now, we have the AMAZING STORIES news. Blarg.

Of course, this means that the Amblin, Apple, and Universal TV reboot of Steven Spielberg's science fiction anthology series will have to find a new captain to command the ship. Once everything is figured out, work will resume on the 10-episode series, though who will serve as Fuller's replacement has yet to be confirmed.

On a more personal note, you're killing me with these exits from shows that I'm looking forward to, Bryan, just killing me. Do you need to talk? Would you like to come over for tea? Can I convince you to be the showrunner for THE WICKED + THE DIVINE? Give me a call, and we'll sort it all out, together.
