The bizarre alien horror universe of Jimmy and Stiggs is already expanding. According to Variety, the upcoming Argentine spin-off Burger Night: Luli, Magda & Lore has officially assembled its lead cast, with Eli Roth returning as an executive producer alongside Jimmy and Stiggs writer-director Joe Begos.
The project will be directed by Sebastián De Caro and reimagines Begos’ extraterrestrial splatterfest from an Argentine perspective, introducing an entirely new group of characters facing the same alien invasion. For fans of Jimmy and Stiggs, that’s welcome news. JoBlo’s own Tyler Nichols awarded the film a 9/10 review, calling it “an absolutely bonkers splatterfest” that delivered exactly the kind of over-the-top practical effects mayhem genre fans crave.
Who stars in Burger Night: Luli, Magda & Lore?
According to Variety, the spin-off will feature an all-female lead cast:
- Agostina Palazzolo (Ciclón)
- Agustina “Papry” Suásquita (Envious)
- Maia Tarcic (Letters to My Ex)
Grupo Morbido founder Pablo Guisa Koestinger has also joined the production as a producer alongside executive producers Eli Roth, Joe Begos, and Meg Thomson.
Director Sebastián De Caro said he couldn’t be happier with the actresses leading the film.
“I am thrilled with the cast — these are women of extraordinary talent, true cinema lovers, brave and wild. They are going to surprise everyone. Each one understands her character perfectly and they all fell in love with the original material.”
Expanding the Jimmy and Stiggs universe
Rather than remaking Begos’ film, Burger Night: Luli, Magda & Lore tells a parallel story set in Argentina during the same extraterrestrial crisis.
The original Jimmy and Stiggs followed estranged friends Jimmy and Stiggs as they reunited to battle what they believed was an imminent alien invasion. Shot on 16mm over four years, much of it inside Begos’ Los Angeles apartment, the film became one of the most talked-about independent horror releases of 2025 thanks to its gore, practical creature effects, and manic energy.
De Caro has assembled an experienced genre filmmaking team for the spin-off, including creative producer Ramiro García Bogliano (Penumbra), cinematographer Mariano Suárez (When Evil Lurks, Terrified), production designer Catalina Oliva, and producer Federico Ricaldoni.
Producer Pablo Guisa said the project grew out of conversations with both Roth and De Caro.
“This project was born from two conversations and a cocktail — one with Eli [Roth] over a year ago, and one with Seba [Caro] a few months back. Both were talks between friends who love cinema. Then we presented the IP at the MorbidoGate Showcase and cocktail in Cannes, and today we are announcing the cast and I am boarding as producer. Films are made as a team, but for me genre cinema goes beyond that — it’s made as a family. And in this project, that couldn’t be more true.”
The actresses also shared their excitement about joining the project.
Palazzolo said:
“I am proud to be part of a national project led by such talented women.”
For Suásquita, the film represents her first experience working in genre cinema.
“I feel that genre cinema is the most creative and critical genre of our time. As an actress, this is a challenging project, full of adrenaline, that allows me to work for the first time in a different language — one that belongs to the genre, where limits shift and creativity expands.”
Tarcic added:
“Everyone grew up watching movies about aliens landing in the United States. But what happens when they land in Argentina? That, for me, is what makes this project most stimulating. Not just being part of a genre film, but participating in a creative challenge that is quite unusual for Argentine cinema.”
