Captain America’s Dum Dum Dugan may be played by Neal McDonough

Some potentially good casting news for CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER has come down the pike: Deadline’s Mike Fleming is reporting that actor Neal McDonough (STREET FIGHTER: THE LEGEND OF CHUN-LI, “Band of Brothers”) is currently in talks to play one of Nick Fury’s Howling Commandos, Timothy Aloysius Cadwallader “Dum Dum” Dugan.

In the comics, Dugan was Nick Fury’s best friend and right-hand man (typically sporting a trademark bowler). McDonough would come to the role bringing two crucial bits of experience: One, he’s well-versed in World War II thanks to Clint Eastwood’s FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS, and especially, HBO’s “Band of Brothers”, where he also received the requisite Nazi fighting skills. And two, both McDonough and Dum Dum Dugan hail from Boston! A match made in heaven, no?

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER begins shooting next month in the UK.
