Chameleon and other Spider baddies could show up in Silver & Black

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

So I know people are ambivalent about Sony's plans to have a Spidey-verse without Spider-Man again. I mean, that sort of thinking is what sunk the original Amazing-verse (where the second movie was just a promise for other movies), and not only that, but Sony and Marvel can't seem to decide if these films are canon or not. Not a good look. However, there is a lot of talent behind the announced films: VENOM has Tom Hardy and Riz Ahmed, and BLACK & SILVER has director Gina Prince-Bythewood. So I'm not willing to write them off just yet.

Now there's a rumor from Jeff Sneider of The Tracking Board about who the villain might be in SILVER & BLACK, and it's none other than The Chameleon! Also, as his name implies, he's a guy who can change his appearance (nevermind the fact that chameleons change color based on emotion and not camouflage, but whatever he was created in the '60s). Honestly, I only remember him for that one time the 90s Spider-Man cartoon aired his episode in primetime instead of Saturday mornings. If I remember correctly, I was disappointed by that episode.

Anyway, Sneider also heard rumors that henchman Tombstone (an albino black man with sharp fangs) and Tarantula (the South American equivalent of Captain America with spiked boots) will also make an appearance. Okay, sure.

Look, I never read much Spider-Man comics – let alone Black Cat or Silver Sable – so I don't know much of these characters save how involved they were in the films or cartoons. I just hope the movie doesn't suck.

Meanwhile, SILVER & BLACK will hit theaters February 8th, 2019.
