Much like Christian Bale, Matthew McConaughey, and Charlize Theron, Tom Hardy isn't afraid to undergo a major transformation for the roles he plays on screen. In the past, we've seen Hardy bulk up for his role as Bane for Christopher Nolan's THE DARK NIGHT RISES. Then in 2015, Hardy arrived as the murderous Kray twins for director Brian Helgeland's LEGEND. Having secured his reputation for being unafraid of some latex, weight gain, and the skills of a great makeup artist, Hardy is forever modifying his look to best represent the characters he brings to life for our entertainment. For his latest magic trick, Hardy is starring as Al Capone for Josh Trank's upcoming biopic revolving around the legendary gangster. Over the past few weeks, photos of Hardy as Capone have begun to surface online. However, the latest pic to hit the social media sphere of Hardy as the cigar-chomping Capone is supremely intense.

Behold!

The new photo of Hardy as Capone was posted to photographer Greg Williams' Instagram account, who credited makeup artist Audrey Doyle for the actor's uncanny tranformation. As you can see from the above pic, Hardy's Capone depicts a scarred, grizzled, and chilling rendition of the notorious real-life crime figure. And would you look at those eyes? I know the photo is in black and white, but my goodness! Those peepers are the stuff of nightmares. Actually, is anyone else getting some hard DICK TRACY vibes from this photo? I know I am.

Directed by Josh Trank (FANTASTIC FOUR, CHRONICLE), CAPONE centers around the 47-year old Al Capone, who after 10 years in prison, starts suffering from dementia and comes to be haunted by his violent past.

Joining Hardy for the biographical crime drama are Linda Cardellini (FREAKS AND GEEKS, SCOOBY-DOO), Katherine Narducci (THE IRISHMAN, GODFATHER OF HARLEM), Matt Dillon (CRASH, DRUGSTORE COWBOY), Kyle MacLachlan (TWIN PEAKS, INSIDE OUT) and Noel Fisher (SHAMELESS, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES), among others.

Vertical Entertainment and Redbox Entertainment will be releasing CAPONE as a home premiere VOD release on May 12, 2020 as an on-demand 48-hour rental.
