Well folks the last update we got on Matthijs van Heijningen Jr.’s THE THING prequel came back at the beginning of July so I’d say it’s about time for another, wouldn’t you? And boy what an update we got for you today!
Alright so it’s not that exciting but we do have the first teaser poster from the flick for you guys to check out! The guys over at Encore Magazine recently got a look at the goods during this year’s Australian International Movie Convention. I’ve wasted no time though, that shite is already up directly below so do yourself a favor and check it out!
Pretty simple right? I’m digging it! From the looks of this poster I’d say the official title for this little diddy is going to be THE THING… and I’m not sure how I feel about that. Considering this thing is a prequel shouldn’t it get slapped with a different title? Or at least toss a subtitle on there. Leaving it as THE THING might confuse a lot of people… I suppose we’ll roll with it for now, considering we don’t have much of a choice.
Antarctica: an extraordinary continent of awesome beauty. It is also home to an isolated outpost where a discovery full of scientific possibility becomes a mission of survival when an alien is unearthed by a crew of international scientists. The shape-shifting creature, accidentally unleashed at this marooned colony, has the ability to turn itself into a perfect replica of any living being. It can look just like you or me, but inside, it remains inhuman. In the thriller THE THING, paranoia spreads like an epidemic among a group of researchers as they’re infected, one by one, by a mystery from another planet. Paleontologist Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) has traveled to the desolate region for the expedition of her lifetime. Joining a Norwegian scientific team that has stumbled across an extraterrestrial ship buried in the ice, she discovers an organism that seems to have died in the crash eons ago. But it is about to wake up. When a simple experiment frees the alien from its frozen prison, Kate must join the crew’s pilot, Carter (Joel Edgerton), to keep it from killing them off one at a time. And in this vast, intense land, a parasite that can mimic anything it touches will pit human against human as it tries to survive and flourish.
THE THING stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Joel Edgerton, Eric Christian Olsen, Ulrich Thomsen, Jonathan Walker, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Kim Bubbs. It’s due to hit theaters everywhere on April 29, 2011 so there should be plenty more THING goods heading our way soon!
