Check out Jamie Foxx & Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the Project Power trailer!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Hot on the heels of EXTRACTION and THE OLD GUARD comes Netflix's latest action-extravaganza, PROJECT POWER, starring Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in rare action hero mode. The premise is pretty solid, with the idea being that there's a pill that can give people super-powers for five minutes, with the catch being you never know what the power will be until you test it. Some baddies are using it for evil and based on the trailer, it looks as though Foxx's daughter is the source of the pill's main ingredient, sending him on a rescue mission. Joseph Gordon-Levitt seems to be playing a cop trying to help him take down the pill-makers by…naturally…taking a shitload of the pills himself.

This is directed by Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost, who have a pretty eclectic resume including the doc CATFISH, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 3 (the best of the series IMO) & 4, and the underrated teen thriller NERVE. Overall, this looks like a total blast, and with theaters closed down for the foreseeable future, it should scratch the summer blockbuster itch pretty well when it hits Netflix on August 14th.
