A spacecraft carrying thousands of people to a distant colony has malfunctioned, resulting in two passengers waking up 60 years early. This is the premise for PASSENGERS, starring Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence. Given those names, you're probably surprised that we haven't seen a trailer yet! I'm just as surprised as you are, but Entertainment Weekly was goodly enough to drop a few pictures in the meantime.

Director Morten Tyldum on PASSENGERS:

It’s one of those stories that really grabs you and you fall in love with it. It’s very smart and funny and clever and such a page turner I couldn’t put it down. Every 10 pages, something new happens! At the same time it’s a very intimate movie while taking place on this epic scale. For me, it’s a story about what’s important to live a full life. What are the things we need as humans? It’s not afraid to entertain but at the same time it asks big questions about what does it mean to really feel happy. Every generation has its love story. I feel like this is it. I had to do it.

Our first impressions of this film from CinemeCon (check it out below) had me intrigued, and I'm actually really looking forward to see a trailer from this. I'm not sure how well this flick is going to do in the wake of ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY, but there's plenty of room for two different Sci-Fi films on my plate! If anything, I hope this gives Jennifer Lawrence a little bit more to do than the recent sci-fi pics she's taken part in. I dunno, something about an Apocalypse? It's all very foggy…

PASSENGERS is set to hit theaters on December 21, 2016.
