Christopher Lloyd would do Back to the Future IV plus short with Lloyd & Fox

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Director Robert Zemeckis has made it quite clear that a BACK TO THE FUTURE reboot isn’t going to happen anytime soon (thank the Gods), and while a sequel to the classic trilogy most likely won’t happen either, that’s not at the behest of its actors. Given all the BACK TO THE FUTURE PART II madness going on this year, Christopher Lloyd spoke with The Hollywood Reporter and is, surprisingly, more than willing to return to the franchise.

I would love to do Doc again, no question. It’s tough to come up with an idea that contains the excitement of the original three, so it would be a real challenge for the writers to come up with an original Back to the Future story that has the same passion and intensity and excitement as the other three. But it could be done, you never know.

I think regardless of the Parkinson’s, [Michael J. Fox would] probably jump on the role and he’d be great. I can’t see doing another sequel without him. I would certainly want Bob Zemeckis directing it, Bob Gale writing it and the other principals being involved. And, of course, there has got to be a DeLorean. It was such a perfect choice for the film. It looked so speedy and futuristic.

I don’t know about a BACK TO THE FUTURE sequel, but I’d be totally down with Lloyd and Fox working on something together. That may be, in part, due to a short they did with Toyota. While the whole thing won’t be released until October 21st, you can catch part of it below. As you can see, the chemistry is as strong as ever between those two. Love it!
