In less than a month, Chucky the killer doll will be returning to our screens in Chucky, an appropriately titled television series that’s set to begin airing on both Syfy and USA Network on October 12th. In anticipation of the show’s premiere, a featurette has been released online that features footage from the show, offers a glimpse behind the scenes, and has creator Don Mancini discussing what he’s trying to achieve with the series. He’s hoping viewers with laugh, scream, and cry at the story he’s telling this time around.

Mancini has written every Child’s Play film (except for the remake) and directed a few of them. He developed Chucky with producer David Kirschner. Mancini and Kirschner are executive producing Chucky with Harley Peyton, Alex Hedlund, and Nick Antosca. Mancini also directed the first episode. The show’s synopsis:

After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.

The cast of the series includes Zackary Arthur, Devon Sawa (playing the dual role of twin brothers), Fiona Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, Bjorgvin Arnarson, Jacob Breedon, Alex Vincent, Lexa Doig, Teo Briones, Christine Elise, Alyvia Alyn Lind, and Lind’s real-life mother Barbara Alyn Woods. David Kohlsmith is playing the young Charles Lee Ray for the scenes where we’ll see his “untold origins”. And Brad Dourif has again recorded the lines Chucky will be speaking.

A follow-up to all of the Child’s Play movies (except for that remake), Chucky picks up where Cult of Chucky left off. As we get closer to the premiere date, I’m getting more and more excited to watch this show.
