Claire Danes has joined the cast of the upcoming HBO Max limited series Full Circle. The series is co-created by Steven Soderbergh and Ed Solomon.

At the time of the HBO Max series’ order last year, Steven Soderbergh expressed his pleasure in teaming with Ed Solomon. “Even by Ed’s standards this is a complex narrative that manages to be both kaleidoscopic and intimate…Our task now is to assemble a great cast and make sure we execute at the level the scripts deserve.”

These “standards” Soderbergh speaks of may refer to layers related to time travel and meta awareness. Ed Solomon’s previous writing credits include the Bill & Ted trilogy, the Now You See Me heist movies and It’s Garry Shandling’s Show.

The cast that Steven Soderbergh is assembling for Full Circle is slowly but surely building. Other than the addition of Claire Danes in a lead role, the great Zazie Beetz (Atlanta) was previously announced for the cast. Beetz has had numerous projects circling her, including seasons six of Black Mirror and reprising her role for Joker: Folie à Deux, due out in 2024.

Story details for Full Circle are slim, with Solomon initially saying, quite mysteriously describing it as “both a linear, straight story as well as a branching narrative, so two entirely different ways of telling the same story.” Got it? No? Well, THR was able to elaborate a little more, writing it “follows the investigation of a botched kidnapping, which uncovers long-held secrets connecting multiple characters and cultures in New York City.” Ah, that makes a little more sense!

HBO Max’s Full Circle will have six episodes, all directed by Steven Soderbergh. Following her Emmy-winning turn on Homeland, Claire Danes has starred in Apple TV+’s The Essex Serpent (read our review here!) and will co-star in FX on Hulu’s Fleishman Is in Trouble.

No official release date has been set for Full Circle.
